Computers have been a big part of my life since my earliest memories, and I’d like to document what I can here so I don’t forget.
Dell Optiplex 760 (2017–24)
The computer on which I hosted this website amongst other things for several years. Replaced by a PowerEdge R710.

Acer laptop (2010–2013)
Replaced the eMachines after its failure. Ran Windows 7. Motherboard broke after a fall from my desk, leading to the purchase of the XPS 8700. I can’t remember the exact model, so I won’t list any specifications.
Second-generation Dell Optiplex (2005–2008?)
Can’t remember the exact model, though I do have the 20GB hard disk drive with Windows XP that came from it. Was technically my now-former stepfather’s; I used it except during the summer when I returned to West Virginia, during which I used the eMachines.
Toshiba Satellite (?–2009)
My mother’s Windows XP laptop which I often played around on. I don’t remember much about it aside from having difficulty spelling its model name despite otherwise stellar English.
eMachines T1220 (2002/2006–2010)
My grandfather’s school computer (as a teacher), though it replaced the Presario as the family computer upon his death. I obviously got rid of the tower and monitor as I’m not going to keep huge junk around, but I kept the hard disk as well as the keyboard and mouse as spare PS/2 peripherals. For some reason, I also remember it running Office XP, on which I occasionally created and distributed a neighbourhood newsletter of my own unique brand of comedy for about a year, The Weekly Moron (monthly).

Compaq Presario 1215 (2001/2006–2011)
A laptop which my mother besought to me that worked right up until the LCD broke in 2016. Haven’t tested it to see if it works as I lost the memory chip.

Compaq Presario 4112 (1998/2002–2007)
My grandfather’s school computer before he got the eMachines. It’s still in working condition, shockingly, and I’ve detailed quite a bit its pseudo-restoration, including its specs.
Compaq Presario 5834 (?– ≥2006)
I only remember this computer through having to throw it away and having seen my aunt write papers when in college on Windows 98. If I’m not mistaken, I kept the faceplate, hard disk and motherboard and they’re somewhere in my collection of obsolete PC components.
As for specs: the only thing I can say for sure is that it had a 17020.3 MB WD Caviar 170AA EIDE hard disk, part no. 160554-001.
Beige Gateway computer (2008–2009)
I have vague memories of having my own desktop in my room whislt living in Cincinnati, and possibly Chromadrome 2 (again). Windows XP, without a doubt. I think I got it from my former stepfather’s half-brother, Jesús, as I somehow recall one of his children’s usernames being unremovable as I had no administrator access.
“All-in-keyboard” PC (2006?)
Yet another computer with absolutely vague memories. I distinctly remember it running Windows 98 with WebTV, however. The fact I can’t recall the name of my first computer (i.e. I owned it) bugs me to this day. I think I sold it to my own mother in exchange for the Presario 1215.
Also, some consoles…
Same reason as initially stated: I wanna write down and preserve these memories. (I have several other consoles in my posession, but they aren’t listed here as I never actually played them.)
PlayStation (2005?–2007?)
If I’m not mistaken, I got this from my stepfather’s weed plug. The few games I clearly remember were Rugrats Studio Tour, one of the Crash Bandicoots, and… actually, that’s about it. I sometimes vaguely remember having a PSone at some point—specifically being played on a sunny late evening on the kitchen countertop of our mobile home roughly 50cm left of the sink, just to the right of the refrigerator—, but that might have been a friend’s or someone else’s.
Game Boy Advance SP (2006–2017?)
If I’m not mistaken, my aunt got me this for my birthday in 2006. I believe it’s still somewhere in my house.
Games I remember:
- Super Mario Advance
- Super Mario Advance 2
- Namco Museum
- Driver
- Several Cartoon Network movies, incl. Shark Tale
PlayStation 2 (2007?–2012?)
If I’m not mistaken, my stepfather gave this to me after he got a PS3. I think I got rid of this at a yard sale in 2012 after I got my Xbox 360. I also had some sort of wireless controller at one point; I think it’s still in my closet.
Games I remember:
- Gran Turismo 2(?)
- Kingdom Hearts II
PlayStation Portable (2008–2016?)
I don’t entirely remember how I got this, but I do remember giving it to my cousin somewhere around 2016. This kept me quite entertained in the hospital waiting room while my now-former stepfather was recovering from a drug-related shooting.
Games I remember:
- Daxter
- Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
- Need for Speed: Most Wanted
- EyePet Adventures
- A bunch of movies
Wii (2010–present)
My grandmother bought this for Christmas from a friend-of-the-family, Brian. It’s the only somewhat contemporary console I own. I won’t list the games I remember à la above entries, because that would be my entire library.
Xbox 360 S (2011–2017)
I got this as a gift in 2011. I distinctly remember playing it during the 2012 Summer Olympics whilst my grandmother and I stayed at my aunt’s to housesit. At some point at least before 2014, my grandmother bought me a Kinect; we played tons of things together one winter when we went up to Lakewood Resorts in McHenry, Md. one Christmas. I sold it to my mother’s husband in 2017 since I’d mostly moved to PC gaming.
Games I remember:
- Forza Motorsport 2
- Forza Motorsport 4
- Minecraft: Console Edition
- Kinect Adventures
- Castle Crashers
- Doritos Crash Course
- Portal
- LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean
And some PC games I remember, I guess…
Chromadrome 2 on the old Optiplex; I only recently got into PC gaming for anything besides Minecraft.
